Tell us about the bride Where you grew up went to school, where you work
I grew up in Allendale, NJ. I went to Northern Highlands, and then Roger Williams for college in Rhode Island. I moved out to Rhode Island after school and took a full time job at a CPA firm.
Tell us about the Groom Where you grew up went to school, where you work
Ean grew up in Old Lyme, CT. He is currently attending New England Tech for his IT degree. He is currently working at Independence Bank in their IT department.
Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
Ean and I met at one of my favorite weekend spots, Mardi Gras.
On the weekends, my girls and I would go line dancing and little did I know it, Ean was a bouncer there. To give a little background, the bar had four different rooms, and I ony spent time in the Country room. However, Ean hates country music, so he was the bouncer in the rock room.
On June 6, 2010, Markate and I decided to have a night out line dancing. Throughout the evening, Marykate and I started talking to one of the bouncers who invited us to the after party for some drinks. So when the bar closed, we were told to sit in the rock room and wait for the bar to close. While waiting, Ean walked by and I grabbed him and said "I'm hungy... do you have food?" Ean looked at me (with a broom and garbage bag in hand) and said "Do I look like I have food?" Obviously we were in love at first sight!
Ean walked passed again, and I said "hey, do you have food?" Ean this time handed me peanuts and said, "You can eat these.." Over the next hour, I continued to bother him, until Marykate and I decided we were ready to head home. Before I left, Ean and I exchanged numbers...
Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)
On Tuesday, before Christmas, I was at work and having a really bad day. I was thinking to myself, when I get home, I am going to yell and scream and workout so I can relax. Meanwhile, Ean had something else planned... When I got home, there was a gift under the Christmas Tree. Obviously, being I was already angry, I started yelling at Ean about the gift. "That better not be for me... we said we weren't going to do anything for each other this year.." Ean said, "I decided to get you something anyway." I of course, continued to yell, "I didn't get anything for you.. why would you do that.." blah blah blah! So I tried walking past him to go into the other room.. He stopped me and said, "just open it.." "No!"; "please just open it.."; "Alright..."
I sat on the floor and started opening this gift... When I opened the first gift, there was another gift instead. So I started opening the second gift, and there was ANOTHER gift inside. Three more gifts later, I finally got to the remaining box. During this time, I was getting more and more angry and Ean was just laughing at me! I just kept thinking, we said we were doing nothing for each other for Christmas, so wouldn't it be funny if he got me a box filled with nothing... honestly I wouldn't put it past him. Well inside the last box, there was a note: "Go into the guest room."
Ean is very supportive and understanding.
What inspired your decor or theme?
As a result of getting married in a castle, we figured the princess theme would be perfect! Horse and carriage.. castle.. Couldn't go wrong! :)
What is one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?
I wish I walked through the entire venue after it was set up to see what each room looked like. Everything worked out perfectly.
Why did you pick your Wedding Venue, What Attracted you
Ean and I researched a bunch of venues and when we saw the Castle online we decided to check it out. As soon as we saw it we fell in love, but the ultimate decision came down to my parents and if they liked the venue as well. Ean and I left asking my parents to visit the venue. When they did, I found out my mom and dad had been married in a castle. As a result they fell in love with the idea of Ean and I getting married in the castle, and now the rest is history! :)
