1)Tell lus how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty Details.

Pat entered and won a fall 2008 NFL fantasy football league that included Lauren and her friends from home, including groomsman Jose Larin, who was Pat's roommate. On a subsequent trip of Lauren and her friends to Atlantic City in Feb. 2009, Pat arrived to join the group and met Lauren. She was intrigued, even though Pat uncharacteristically had a full beard grown in on their first meeting, and Lauren is no fan of facial hair. That first night ended with Pat and Lauren sharing a vanilla milkshake at a diner and led to romantic dates, dating, and an enagagement!

2)When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?,etc.

Dinner at Buddakan in Olde City Philadelphia, an intimate conversation about our relationship, followed by a dinner at Il Brigante at the South Street Seaport in New York City in the summer of 2010 where Pat told Lauren he loved her for the first time.

3)Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Lauren is notorious for sniffing out surprises, so Pat tiptoed his way toward the big day.

He bought the ring, told Lauren he planned Saturday, Feb. 18 out in Manhattan to celebrate his upcoming birthday and suggested that Friday night they simply stay in. The reason he gave Lauren: this could be his last full weekend off, at home, until the end of the interminable NHL season, and he could use the sleep. The real reason: Pat couldn't bear having to keep the proposal secret for an entire overnight with Lauren by his side.

You know what happened next.

Lauren suggested they visit Atlantic City on Friday instead. She didn't want to lose her hotel reward points and needed to stay there by March. Pat accepted but needed Lauren in Manhattan the next day, so instead of driving, he said a phrase he never thought he say: take a bus.

Pat agonized over dinner, then all night and on Saturday morning, trying his hardest to be himself and not show one of his many poker tells. But his plan already was in motion: on the bus ride up the Parkway, Laurens mother called her cell phone and asked that she drop off $20 of spending money to her 97-year-old grandmother, Margie, in Downtown Manhattan before dinner.

Arriving in midtown, Pat had already secured the ring in the pocket of a suit jacket he planned to wear that night. The original rings case was too bulky, though, so he had rummaged through his dresser earlier that week for an alternative.

Notre Dame class ring case? I think she rather see the ring and not the gold 'ND' staring back from the inside. High school ring case? Plain, black, that'll do.

Off they went to Bryant Park for some ice skating. But wait. A long line. Time was ticking. Dinner reservations, Pat told Lauren, were at Brigante, the site of their first dinner following Pats move to New York and a block away from her grandmother. (How perfect. They can drop off the money on the way!)

Pat recommended they each bring a pink rose Downtown – the same loving pink rose that Grandma Margie had given to Lauren for her birthday each year. Pat's corner bodega was fresh out, so he started to panic in the cab, but the florist on Fulton Street came through in a big way – two pink roses, wrapped individually and in full bloom.

The couple arrived upstairs in Grandma Margies apartment, and amid a comedy of emotions and signals, Pat pleaded with her aide to leave the room for a few minutes so he could pop The Question. The oblivious aide cooked Margie dinner and tided up the kitchen for what felt like an eternity to Pat, but was really only about 15 minutes until Mr. Volpe called her cell phone and politely told her to hit the showers.

With just the three of them now in the apartment, Lauren presented her pink rose to Grandma Margie.

Thank you, her grandmother said, smiling.

Then Pat looked over to Laurens grandma and said, “This rose is actually for you to give to Lauren. Grandma, not knowing what was about to happen, nevertheless looked up and said: Lauren, I'd like you to have this rose. I love you so much.

Lauren accepted the rose and then looked at Pat, who knelt on one knee and said: Lauren, I also have something I'd like to give you. He took out the ring and spoke as best he could.New_Jersey_Wedding_Photographer_001

Lauren cried hysterically enough that she had to ask Pat later if she had been able to say the word She cried enough that her grandmother hilariously told her, Stop crying.

Then the rest of the plan kicked in – dinner at Gramercy Tavern, a room at the midtown Marriott, a Sunday dinner in Jersey with the parents … until Pat had to return to Madison Square Garden hours later and cover Rangers-Blue Jackets with a big smile on his face. >

4)Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Pat: I love how much I love Lauren, how much she loves me, and how confident I am that we will be celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary when we are 79.

Lauren: I love everything about Pat. We complement each other really well. He makes me feel like a million bucks every day.

5)If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Pat: Lauren beat me in the fantasy football championship in 2012, and she is addicted to the app Candy Crush.

Lauren: Pat likes talking on the phone more than most girls do, and he won't admit it.

6) Besides getting married -What is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Both of us: Sharing the day with everyone who got me/us here and making them as happy as I am.
